Students at times have barriers to learning such as vision, dental, and general access to health. Students have difficulty focusing on academics when such barriers exist and attendance may be impacted further causing learning delays.
Project HeART was created in 2018 to provide a community care specialist to support children from the Jurupa Unified School District (JUSD) in accessing the care they need in order to support learning without limits. The district partners with local health care providers for these services to qualifying low-income children attending JUSD. The focus of Project HeART is to address the immediate need of the child and assist in getting them Healthy and Ready to Learn.
