What is this?
California public schools offer
free behavioral health and emotional wellness services for students who need them. These services may include counseling or other mental health supports provided at school.
The State of California allows schools to
bill health insurance for certain covered services so schools can continue offering these supports.
Does this cost my family anything?
No.
State law does not allow health plans to charge families for these school-based services.
Why is the school asking for insurance information?
To receive funding, the school district must submit a claim to your child’s health insurance.
By signing the consent form during the via Parent Connect and sharing:

Your child’s insurance ID number

The name of the parent or guardian who holds the insurance
you help the school continue offering
free behavioral health services to students.

Yes.

That is your choice.
If you do not provide insurance information:
If your child receives special education services under an
Individualized Education Program (IEP), they will continue to receive required services regardless of your decision.
