JUSD Family Reading Challenge
 

Thank you to everyone who participated in the fall JUSD Family Reading Challenge! Districtwide, our elementary school students logged 37,178 minutes of reading time.
The top 3 classes were:
1st place: Ms. Espinal's 6th grade class at Indian Hills Elementary with 4,825 minutes
2nd place: Ms. Gonzalez's Kindergarten class at Stone Avenue Elementary with 2,085 minutes
3rd place: Ms. McAllister's 2nd-grade class at Camino Real Elementary with 1,420 minutes

The top 3 schools were:
1st place: Indian Hills Elementary with 8,862 minutes
2nd place: Stone Avenue Elementary with 7,831 minutes
3rd place: Sunnyslope Elementary with 5,266 minutes

Our second JUSD Family Reading Challenge started Wednesday, February 28, and will continue through April 5.

Participation is easy. Elementary students and their families can just log minutes read together at this form: bit.ly/familyreadingchallenge.

Be sure to follow my social media channels – on Facebook @JUSD Superintendent and on Instagram @JUSD_Supt. Leaderboards with the top classes and schools will be shared each week on my social media and on our district website: www.jurupausd.org. The top 3 classes at the end of the challenge period will earn prizes. The cutoff is 3 PM on Friday, April 5.

And, new for this challenge, we will have some special mystery prizes. Keep reading and you just may win!​​

​Book vending machines in JUSD elementary schools

Every Jurupa Unified elementary school has a new exciting installation! Book vending machines are now at every elementary school to make literacy accessible and fun for all students. Students can 'purchase' the books with tokens earned for positive behavior.
