Hello JUSD families:
We are happy to share with you that beginning in the 2023/24 school year, Jurupa Unified will offer full-day transitional kindergarten and kindergarten programs at most of our district schools (where space allows). This program change was made in consideration of what is in the best interest of our students’ academic success and is based on research and best practices.
Full-day TK/K programs have been shown to have the following benefits:
Promotes academic achievement
Fosters a love for learning
Provides equitable learning access for all students
Helps students learn to self-regulate and get along with others
Builds self-esteem
Reduces the occurrence of grade retention
Improves graduation rates
As a reminder, our TK program is available to students who will turn 5 between September 2, 2023, and April 2, 2024. Kindergarten is available to students who turn 5 between January 1 and September 1, 2023.
