Superintendent's Message

At Jurupa Unified School District, it is our mission to help every student succeed in college, careers and life.  We do this in part by instilling a growth mind-set in every child; that is, helping them understand how grit, resiliency, hard work, dedication and perseverance deliver success, achievement and lifelong learning.

This is our promise to our students, parents, and the community – a promise we call Learning without limits.

If you are a student in Jurupa Unified School District, I want you to know that we believe in your ability to learn things you never imagined, to have choices with respect to goal-setting, attending college, and/or charting a career path.  We believe your potential for learning is unlimited.  To me, Learning without limits means each and every student in Jurupa Unified can succeed in school and in life.

What does Learning without limits mean to you?

Perhaps you can think of something that was challenging for you to learn: how to do a math problem, for instance, or how to roller skate, or change the brake pads on a car, or bake a cake.  Every day, we each learn something new, do something we never did before, or reach a goal.

Learning without limits is not easy.  Achievement takes work.  But whether it is learning how to read a book, factor a quadratic equation, run 100 miles, or balance a chemical equation, every student can succeed, in grades K-12 and beyond.

Our JUSD high-school graduation rate now exceeds 90 percent.  While every student may not choose to attend college, we want college to be an option for every student.  This past year, all of our high schools provided opportunities – through AP, RECHS, Dual Enrollment, or CTE accredited classes – for students to gain college credits while still in high school.  We will add more such opportunities every year.

By completing a college credit class in high school, our students know they can succeed in college.  And each high-school student can earn up to a year of college credit, which means a four-year degree could take only three years to finish.  Furthermore, all of our high schools – JVHS, Patriot, Rubidoux and Nueva Vista – now have programs to help every student complete the FAFSA, the application for college financial aid. We also have an incredible, and growing, suite of career preparation courses to give students hands-on experience in pathways ranging from engineering to manufacturing to public safety.

At Jurupa Unified, we teach students persistence and a growth mind-set, affirm their ability to achieve and overcome obstacles, and provide them with dedicated teachers and rigorous, practical curricula – all to help each student learn without limits for a lifetime.
