​Stone Avenue Elementary's 1st and 3rd grade students went on field trips to the Santa Ana River Bottom courtesy of the RiverKATS Program. Students learned about the local environment and watershed concepts through in-class activities and hands-on field trips from a Chemical Engineer.

Students learned about an area in their community; where the water comes from, where it runs to; and tested the water using chemicals. In addition, they were given the opportunity to exam native insects and plants under microscopes. Students and teachers enjoyed their time as Environmental Scientists.
