Honor for JMS Artist

jusd student shout out.jpgCongratulations to Jurupa Middle student, Vincent Robinson, whose artwork is part of a plaque that honors a state senator’s contributions to public education. The showcased work, a collage, depicts a luminous sunset over the ocean, with hues of blue, red, cream, and gold.

The California School Boards Association (CSBA) chose the collage for an awards program that commends state and federal legislators who help improve public schools. Vincent’s art decorates the plaque for Richard Roth of Riverside, who represents Jurupa Valley in the state Senate.

“Having my artwork publicly honored and used for this purpose is like a dream come true,” Vincent said. “It is an amazing feeling and I am really glad so many people enjoy it. I could not have done this without the love and support I get from my family and friends.”

V Robinson art work.jpgCSBA considered a diverse set of work from students before selecting Vincent’s art for the honor. Last week, the JUSD Board of Education recognized the eighth-grader for his achievement.

“As his artwork suggests, he is great at thinking outside the box and has great critical thinking skills,” said Anthony Gomez, one of Vincent’s teachers at JMS. “He does not confine or limit his thinking to basic or simple answers, but often understands complexities. He exemplifies learning without limits by always being willing to go above expectations and working harder than many others.”
