August 27, 2021:
This morning, a red Ford Expedition stopped in front of a female Rubidoux High School student on her walk to school. This incident took place at Pacific and Vista de Oro. There were two individuals in the SUV. The passenger, a male Hispanic, opened the door and tried to approach the student.
The student ran and was able to get to school safely. She notified RHS staff, and the School Resource Officer and Sheriff’s department were immediately contacted and informed.
In a communication to RHS parents and guardians, Dr. Jose Araux, principal, asked parents to remind their children about the importance of being alert and cautious while walking to and from school, and while waiting at bus stop locations. He also recommended that children walk to school in groups with other students, if possible, and never speak to or accept a ride from a stranger.
Rubidoux High School and Jurupa Unified School District are committed to the safety and welfare of all students. Parents and guardians will continue to be informed as safety situations arise.
