Letter from the Superintendent

Letter from the Superintendent

February 17, 2021

Dear JUSD Families,

Jurupa Unified would like to provide you with an update regarding our ability to reopen schools. Each week California releases updated County metrics for COVID-19 on their website. Last week, Riverside County’s Adjusted Case Rate (ACR) was 44.9 cases per 100,000 population. This week, that rate has decreased to 28.8 cases per 100,000, which is closer to the threshold required to open elementary schools (25 cases or below for 5 consecutive days).

District staff continue to prepare plans for the wide range of reopening scenarios the district will face. Once clearance is received, information on reopening will be communicated to families.

Secondary schools have a different threshold for reopening (7 cases or less). As the ACR continues to drop, we will provide further information on secondary schools reopening.

Thank you for your patience as we move forward in this process.

Sincerely,
Elliott Duchon
Superintendent
