Student Data Download and Return

Students have two sources of saved files within the Jurupa Unified School District. The primary source is Google Drive using their provided student account. In addition, Windows computers have redirected documents folders that store information on a centralized database. Retrieving this information before an account is disabled can be accomplished in two ways:

Google:

Google provides a tool called Google Takeout. This allows users to download all Google information, including Drive, Sites, Emails, and more. The download is a packaged file that must be saved to another account or a removable storage device.
This tool is only available while the account is active. If you know you will be leaving the district (graduating, transferring, etc.), use Google Takeout before your last day.

Copy Content: Using your district-issued Google Account, you can transfer files to another Google Account. This process lets you:

  • Back up files as needed
  • Keep important files when you graduate, switch schools, or leave the district. For more information, click here.

If you did not save your information before your account became inactive, you will need to request a data recovery from the district. This may require visiting the District Office with a removable storage device.

Windows:

Windows My Documents folder items can be copied from your district computer to a removable storage device. There is no special export tool; you must be logged into a district Windows computer. These files are unavailable outside the district. Once your account is disabled, you will no longer have access.

Steps to Download:
  1. Log into a district computer with your student credentials.
  2. Open your My Documents folder and insert your removable storage device into a USB port.
  3. Open the folder for the removable storage device.
  4. Select all documents from My Documents, right-click, and select Copy.
  5. Right-click in the removable storage window and select Paste.
  6. Allow the transfer to complete.

If you need to retrieve documents after your account is inactive, you must request data recovery from the district. This may require visiting the District Office with a storage device.
