Our Mission
The mission of the Education-Information Technology Department is to create learning environments that reflect the way students live today and prepare them for the ever-evolving world of tomorrow. In a rapidly changing digital landscape, we know that schools must rise to meet the challenges of today while equipping students with the skills they’ll need to thrive in the 21st century and beyond. Today’s workplace expects not only digital fluency, but also the ability to collaborate, communicate, think creatively, and solve problems independently—all skills that are powered and enhanced by innovative technology.
Digital Gateway: Technology for Every Student
Jurupa Unified continues to lead the way with our
Digital Gateway initiative, providing every student in grades 2–12 with a district-issued Chromebook they can take to and from school. Each Chromebook is protected with advanced monitoring and web filtering to ensure students are safe online, both in and out of the classroom.
Digital Gateway empowers students to:
- Boost engagement and productivity with personalized learning and equitable access to technology.
- Learn beyond the school day—anytime, anywhere, 24/7, 365 days a year.
- Experience hands-on learning with real-world tools for the modern age.
- Strengthen 21st-century skills, including collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, digital literacy, and global awareness.
The Digital Gateway program is made possible by Measure EE—the facilities bond approved by district voters in 2014. The investment in student Chromebooks is fully funded through the life of each device. Since the 2016–17 school year, every student in grades 2–12 has received a device to support their learning journey.
Supporting Teachers and Building Community
To ensure success, our instructional technology support is thoughtfully designed to meet the diverse needs of learners, build teacher capacity, and empower educators to learn at their own pace. We encourage teachers to create and grow their own Personal Learning Networks (PLNs), connecting with peers, sharing best practices, and staying up to date on the latest innovations in education technology.
