All students in grades 2nd and 3rd Grade will receive piano instruction that is integrated into their music classes, which meet two (2) days a week. Students will learn the basics of music reading while boosting fine motor skills and coordination.
All students in grades 4-6th will receive group piano lessons one (1) day per week as part of their weekly music requirement. This is integrated into the weekly school schedule. Students will continue to boost fine motor skills, and coordination, and reinforce literacy and math skills through music reading.
Benefits of Piano
Studies have shown that piano practice can boost cognitive and intellectual abilities, including memory and reasoning. Playing the piano also activates similar parts of the brain used in spatial reasoning and math.
