For any of the eighth grade activities, the dress code policy will be enforced.  Please make sure that the student is dressed in accordance to the dress code policy. Any student that does not comply with this dress code will not participate in the activity.

Knott's Berry Farm - Students riding on the bus must return on the bus, no exceptions.  They cannot go home with parents or friends.  Poor behavior may influence participation in the dance and/or the Eighth Grade Promotion Day event.  Since this is a school day, ineligible students who choose to attend this event, will be considered truant and will be ineligible for the Eighth Grade Dance and the Eighth Grade Promotion Day event.

Eighth Grade Dance - We advise that students dress nicely for the dance, perhaps in something they might wear to church or to a nice restaurant.  However, it is not required that students “dress up".  Nice school clothes would be appropriate (refer to the appearance policy).  We discourage special “prom style" dresses or suits.  These tend to be expensive, uncomfortable, and inappropriate for this age.  Students may want to bring cameras to take pictures with friends and may want to bring their yearbooks.  We do suggest that all yearbooks and cameras be clearly marked with the student's name.  Dinner and desert will be served.  Our ASB will be sponsoring this event so there will be no charge.  Only MLMS eligible students are allowed at the dance. All students must wear their student I.D. to be admitted.  Any parent who would like to volunteer to help, please contact Mrs. Ana Baca at 951-360-2883. Please arrive at 8:45pm to pick up your student.

Eighth Grade Promotion Day - We will be honoring our eligible 8th grade students on Wednesday, May 30, at 9:45 AM.  Parents and family members are invited to this event, which will take place on the field. Regular, nice school clothes would be perfectly appropriate.  Balloons will be tied to the designated “Balloon Parking Lot" for later retrieval. A small reception following the event will be set up in the lunch pavilion area.   Students may choose to stay the rest of the day (they would return to class with their teachers) or parents can check them out immediately following the event.  Please remember to bring the sign out sheet for your student to leave after promotion.

Those students who are not eligible to participate in the Eighth Grade Promotion Day are expected to be at school and attend classes on Thursday, May 30.  If you have questions about our end of the year plans, please call the school office at (951) 360-2883.  Thank you for your support and help this year.

Sincerely,

Mary Boules
