Dear Granite Hill Families,

Welcome to the Granite Hill Elementary website. My name is Denise Hernandez and I am excited to introduce myself to you as the new principal of Granite Hill Elementary School.  This is my 15th year of education in Jurupa Unified School District where I have taught most grades at the elementary level and most recently was the Coordinator of Early Childhood Education. I look forward to meeting everyone and to an exciting and productive school year.

To those students and parents who are new to Granite Hill Elementary, we extend warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive year in your new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in our school’s activities and your child’s classroom.
Outstanding academic achievement is a main priority of the students and staff at Granite Hill. Students work with California State Standards and will continue to have opportunities to develop complex thinking, project based learning, and meaningful peer discussion and collaboration. New this year, each student in grades 2-6 will have Chromebooks checked out to them, which will foster the use of technology on a daily basis at home and at school.
It is essential that our students are appropriately challenged, constantly encouraged, and actively engaged on a daily basis. Granite Hill staff members strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment to help your children gain the necessary skills to succeed! Your children are the reason we come to work each and every day!
In order to ensure that your children have a fulfilling school year, it is imperative that they come to school ready to learn, on time, each and every day. It is also essential that all students follow our school expectations. With clearly established expectations, ALL students are able to perform better academically. Lastly, it is important that you become actively involved in your child's education. I hope you consider volunteering for PTA committees, school events, classroom activities, or other school committees such as School Site Council or the English Learner Advisory Committee.
We have plenty opportunities for you to get involved at Granite Hill. We welcome your ideas and your assistance as we work together to make certain that your child has a positive educational experience at Granite Hill.
I look forward to a very productive school year!

Warm regards,

Denise Hernandez
