Excellence in Agriculture

finnicum1.jpeg.jpgCongratulations to Kelsey Finnicum, Agriculture teacher at Rubidoux High School, who was recently awarded the Sectional and Regional Teacher of Excellence award by the California Agriculture Teachers Association (CATA).

With her regional award, Mrs. Finnicum will be included with other regional winners contending for statewide recognition. 

On September 22nd at the Spring Regional meeting, Rhonda Fuller, Agriculture teacher at JVHS and the 2009 CATA State Award winner, praised Mrs. Finnicum. “She is very deserving and has worked very hard, particularly these past two years, to keep the Rubidoux program running smoothly,” she said. “She was one of my students so it was an honor to speak on her behalf.” 

IMG_3181.jpg“I was very honored to receive this award," said Mrs. Finnicum said. "I was reluctant at first to accept the nomination but now I am very glad that I did and feel very proud. It has been really rewarding hearing the nice things people have to say.”  

When asked about Mrs. Finnicum and her accomplishments, Todd Moerer, Assistant Principal at Rubidoux High School, explained, “Mrs. Finnicum is a very dedicated Ag Teacher at Rubidoux High School. She continually goes above and beyond for her students, animals, farm, and the FFA program. She puts in many extra hours working on the farm to keep it clean and in good working condition for the animals and her students. She will even bring her family after hours to help with certain projects. She is a valuable asset to the Rubidoux FFA program and our school.”
