More Digital Distinction

Common Sense.jpgA new case study highlights Jurupa’s work in training students to be smart, safe, and respectful online.

The narrative, by the nonprofit Common Sense Education, notes that every student receives comprehensive digital citizenship training as part of the district’s commitment to learning without limits.

Digital citizenship is a facet of Jurupa’s Digital Gateway program, which assigns every student a Chromebook and promotes learning equity, digital proficiency, and excellence in education through universal student access to modern technology.

This year, Digital Gateway earned a 2018 Models of Excellence and Academic Innovation Award from the Riverside County Office of Education.

In each of the past two years, Common Sense – which designs curriculum for healthy student Internet use – has named JUSD a Showcase District for the district’s online safety training, and a Certified District for completion of digital-citizenship lessons.
