ATTENDANCE GOAL

Our attendance goal at Pedley is to have 97% of our students in school each day.  In addition, we want 85% of our students to have 96% attendance days or better.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Every person between the ages of six years and eighteen years of age is required to attend school.  Students are to come to school daily and on time (Education code 48260).  We have a school-wide attendance incentive program. Our classes compete for trophies monthly and these announcements are made at our assembllies.  Students also earn points in their classrooms for attendance daily.

ABSENCE PROCEDURES

If a child is absent from school the parent/guardian will receive a phone call indicating that their child was not in school.  Parents must ensure that upon returning to school from an absence their child brings in a written note or the office has been informed about the absence.  Notes can be turned in to the teacher or the main office.

Any absence that remains unexcused for 10 days will be converted to a truant.  Students who are absent from school without a valid excuse for three full days in one school year or tardy for more than any 30 minute period shall be considered a habitual truant.  The district will generate letters to parents who are classified as "habitual truant."  (Education Code sec. 48261 & 48262)

Keep in mind that if a child is absent from school 10 days or more in one semester or 15 days or more in one school year will be referred through two steps SART Student Attendance Review Team held at the site level or SARB Student Attendance Review Board held at the Sheriffs Department.

TARDY POLICY

A tardy is defined as a student who is not in their class by 8:10 a.m.   We operate a two-bell system in the mornings. There is a warning bell that rings five minutes before the morning bell.  Students are to stop playing and proceed to where their class lines up.  The morning bell rings promptly at 8:05 a.m. and it indicates the time to line up for class.  It is expected that students are in line by the morning bell at which time they will be sent to their class by the supervisors.

Students receive a tardy slip at the front office by the attendance clerk after 8:10 am. This information is then entered in the attendance record by the teacher.

Volunteers

Fieldtrips are scheduled with teachers but there are some general guidelines. Volunteers going on fieldtrips need TB and Fingerprinting in order to ensure all our students are safe.  If you are going on a fieldtrip as a volunteer please come into the office and get a form from the secretary for fingerprinting and bring your TB clearance within 60 days.  You would then take that form to the district and pay for the fingerprinting.  District will renew each year with no fee but it is your responsiblity to keep it current or there may be a a fee.  If you are volunteering in the classroom all you need is a TB clearance and it needs to be done within 60 days.   Please bring in these forms to the school secretary with enough anticipation to allow time for clearing items.

We also have READY RECESS every Trimester for students who have perfect and outstanding attendance.
