Welcome to Patriot High School, the home of the Warriors. I am honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Patriot High School and serve our students, staff, and community as principal. I look forward to working with our staff, students and community to make the 2016-2017 school year the best since we first opened our gates ten years ago in 2007.

This year Warriors will strive to live our vision, Pursuing Excellence in Learning and Character Within the Patriot Community”, by turning the question, “Got GRIT?” into an exclamation, “Got Grit!”. So, as we guide students to develop the necessary skills to obtain the future of their choosing, we will continue to build a growth mindset and develop GRIT in how Warriors approach the challenge of rigorous learning in all classes. Grit will also apply to us as a staff as we embark on the Digital Gateway Initiative and begin integrate the 1:1 student Chromebooks into our curriculum to transform student learning to meet the needs of the 21st Century.

Patriot is a school of inclusion. Warriors are encouraged to become involved in any number of student electives or co-curricular programs such as our our student leadership organizations-ASB, Warrior Spirit, and Link Crew; 14 CIF participating sports teams; our award winning vocal or instrumental music programs; seasonal drama performances or display their visual art creations in ceramics, art, or photography. We are also committed to offering students an opportunity to participate in our Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways that allow students to attain entry level certification in Information/Communication Technology, Health Science and Medical Technology, Retail Sales and Marketing, Arts, Media, and Entertainment, or Public Service. Students also can choose to not only take one of our 19 advanced placement courses, but to be part of our advanced placement program, Advanced Placement at Patriot (APP). We also have a very strong AVID program and this year we are welcoming our first class of Warriors in our Dual Immersion program. So, whatever the interest or talents our students have, there is a place for them at Patriot.

As principal, I invite our parents and community members to become part of the Warrior family and work as our partners to create a school that reflects the best of our community. Together, we can provide our students and your children the very best high school experience and prepare them for the wonderful unknown futures of their choosing.

Our committed staff is looking forward to a great year of helping our school continue our pursuit of excellence during this school year and look encourage the Patriot community to join us in our efforts.

Let’s go Warriors,

Monty Owens
